How much should I spend on my website?

It’s usually the first question new clients ask. “How much will my website cost?”. The simple answer is that the bigger you’re budget the more time we’ll be able to spend on the project and the better the final product will be.

Bespoke web development, by nature, is a flexible friend. We always ask a series of questions when first discussing a new project with a client. One of those questions is “what is your budget please?”. We ask this for a very good reason!

If you are tempted to spend the whole of your available budget for the project upon its initial development you may wish to pause for a moment. If you have limited funding for your project or even personal savings then you may want to think about ongoing costs before spending 100% of your budget on the initial design and build.

When arriving at your overall budget for the project, before you share that figure with us, spare a thought for the possible extras which you may need to allocate some funding towards. Hosting is one clearly essential requirement, in addition you may be considering on-going Search Engine Optimising (SEO) support, marketing, link building and there are probably some extra features which will perhaps require adding to the site that arise from feedback. Add to this list, potential newsletter designs, an associated App and that original 100% budget maybe something less than 70% of that figure.

It all starts to sound a bit expensive when you reel off a list of ongoing considerations, but it doesn’t need to be. If we know your initial and ongoing budget from the start we can tailor something to that budget.

TVI Design aim for long term, mutually rewarding relationships with all of its clients and every business is different. If you wish to use a budgeting rule of thumb, it is simple, talk to us.
